Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 39 and have been diagnosed with arrhythmia and a click. I do get skipped beats fairly often, but I've learned that's my "normal." I had the flu yesterday and for the past 36 hours my heart has been skipping beats regularly to where I have to cough to get it to regulate. I haven't taken any meds or caffeine to initiate this increased frequency. Just wondering at what point to see a doctor for this, if at all.
Dear Sir/Madam Thanks for your query. Any rhythm disorder of heart warrants investigation and diagnosis till it is identified and proved that it is benign. (Yes , there are benign rhythm disorders of heart.) However, following conditions warrant urgent consultation with your doctor. 1. Loss of consciousness/ unexplained fall/ Dizziness/ blackout/ seizures/ anginal chest pain/ breathlessness associated with episode of rhythm disorder. 2. Symptomatic rhythm disorder which bothers you. Sincerely Sukhvinder
