Hi, my name is Pam. After major dental surgery 3wks ago I was prescribed Clindamycin 150mg Capsules 3 times a day.On completion of the course the next day I acquired a skin rash which started on the front of my body. It is itchy and has since progressed to my back. I have been to see a GP who showed me a similar reaction on the skin to Cefalexin. When I came home and saw I had been taking Clindamycin and not the Cefalexin I looked for a rash on google to see if it was the same in reaction to both medications. I am now in the 4th day of the skin rash and the dr suggested I us Calamine Lotion if I prefer rather than the Antroquoril (Cortisone cream) I was originally prescribed. I find the Calamine Lotion very soothing. I am wondering how long I might have this skin rash? I advised the dentist who prescribed the Clindamycin that I am allergic to pencillan and mangoes, which he reiterated on my first visit. It seems to be slowly improving but from google I have read I should never take Clindamycin again as it could be fatal. Just wondering your thoughts on these matters please.
