What Causes Sinus Headache, Fever And Runny Nose?

Hello. My daughter has had a sinus headache w a fever of 101.1 for two days. Tylenol seems to be working, but once it wares off the symptoms reappear. She also has a runny nose with clear mucous and also has a cough. Is there anything else I can give her and what would be the reason for this? Thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of sinus headache, fever and runny nose. Well the symptoms you mention in query pointing towards sinusitis/ severe sinus infection i.e travelling of infection through sinuses and it could be due to poor immunity of body.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis without any delay to prevent the further complication. Doctor may order X-ray paranasal sinuses along with nasal endoscopy and prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 5 days. Avoid intake of cold beverages. You should do warm saline gargles and take decongestant and nasal saline rinses as well. Take paracetamol every 6 hourly. For now take steam thrice a day to relieve the congestion. You should avoid excessive bending forward.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
