What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Dizziness After Having Diltiazem?

My cardiologist prescribed 480 mg dosage of Diltiazem. I can t take this amount because in the time taking it, my health has deteriorated. Shortness of breath, severe dizziness and no stamina. I work Search and Rescue so I have a physically demanding job. How can I stop taking this drug as my cardiologist seems to be not available for appointments.

Ditiazem is the calcium chenal blocker mainly used in hypertension and angiana you have not mentioned for what you have been given this medicine, initially this durg started with lower possible dose of 60 mg three times in day, then later on this can be maitained with sigle doese of 240 to 480 once in day, this means you must be taking this medicine since long time, because this can not started with such high dose initally, if you are having some problem with this drug then you can start the 240 mg long acting Ditiazem, once in day, hope this information helps, take care.
