What Causes Sharp Stabbing Pain In Groin Followed By Fainting?
My daughter passed out 4 times today - She felt a sharp stabbing pain in her groin area that moved up towards her belly button and then passed out 3 times at home and I brought her to the clinic and then she passed out there, was put in a wheel chair. They did EKG - normal and ran labs - White blood count normal and blood sugar normal. She is not experiencing the pain anymore but is very pale and tired looking. They sent us home saying it was probably an isolated incident and her labs and EKG were normal.
It is good that the ECG was normal, this would make a heart related cause less likely. If she experiences any abnormal heart beats, then it would have to be repeated or a holter done (24 hour ECG).
The normal WBC rules out infection, the hemoglobin would have been checked as well, if this was normal, rules out anemia. Low blood sugar was also ruled out.
It is likely that the fainting episode was in response to the pain. Intense pain can induce an intense emotional response resulting in fainting. This is one type of vasovagal episodes (fainting episodes)
I hope this helps
