What Causes Sharp Pain Under Knee Post Knee Arthroscopy?

I had orthoscopic knee surgery about 2 1/2 years ago. They fixed 7 things during the procedure. My knee took almost 2 years before I felt OK to walk for more than a mile and now I am experiencing a sharp pain under my knee on the left side which is causing me to stop my walking for excersise. What could this be? It feels like my leg/knee is splitting open.
