48 yr old male. no pmhx this past saturday experienced sharp stabbing pain in right shoulder. pain was sudden and subsided quickly. pain did not radiate to neck. pain is not reproducible with any one particular movement. Pain has continued throughout this week with arm movement. Pain has also decreased in intensity but is still sharp and brief when it does occur. Your thoughts please. Thanks!

Usually sharp pains are due to spasm of muscles and pressure on nerves, they usually settle as spasm is relieved, here are a few things which you can do.
1) Take good rest do not over use your arm, try to give it as much rest as you can. 2) You can use Tylenol if pain is consistent. 3) warm compress the area. 4) Physiotherapy is of help. 5) If pain doesn't settle then discuss with your doctor about muscle relaxants.
