What Causes Sharp Pain In Knee Radiating To The Buttocks?

I attempted doing the splits after stretching and felt a sharp pain in my upper calf near the top of my knee, all the way to my butt on my right leg, its okay to walk on but if I try to stretch it I get a sharp pain again, did I tear it or just pull the muscle?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely that it is just a strained muscles as a tear is less likely.

You can try to apply warm compress to the affected area along with rest and the use of anti inflammatory medication to see if this would have any effect eg ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen
These should be used on a full stomach to avoid irritation of the stomach.

I hope this helps
