What Causes Sharp Pain In Incision Area Of Ribs After Removal Of Bronchial Adenoma?
In 2008 I had lobectomy to remove a bronchial adenoma. I still have significant pain around the incision area. Sometimes it is a deep burning sensation, sometimes a sharp lightening type shot of pain, and sometimes feels like the skin is crawling. Almost constant feeling of a knife stuck between my ribs. I had a chest X-ray done recently that reported tenting of the right hemidiaphragm. My surgeon did not advise the possibility of pain 7 years post op. Any suggestions for reducing pain? What does X-ray mean? I ve tried Cymbalta, Lyrica, & Amnitriptyline for pain relief without much success. Thanks!
Hello, Usually pain at a prior incision site is due to nerve pain. You have been on good pain medication for nerve pain. If it is not helping you may need to talk to a neurosurgeon about some sort of ablation procedure to kill off the nerves at the site. Tenting of the hemidiaphragm means that there is some scarring that is pulling up on the diaphragm on one side. It is not usually a serious problem. Regards
