What Causes Sharp Pain In Hips?

I had a two spinal fusions a total of two disks in my lower back replaced about 7 years ago. Recently I am now having a sharp pain in the left hip, the same side as my hardware. Is that possible it has something to do with it. It is not a constant pain but once it starts it lasts a few hours at a time. I also had two disks replaced in my neck and during the summer had foot surgery and they put titanium in the left foot.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
There might be nerve compression at higher disc level which leads to pain. Let me explain in detail. Spinal fusion at two levels leads to total loss of movements at that level. So to compensate movement at higher spinal level increases and hence degeneration occurs early at that level. So this instability due to excessive movements at infused levels leads to possible nerve compression and hence pain in thigh and hip. So you need to be investigated in form of radiograph of lumbosacral spine anteroposterior and lateral views to assess degenerative changes. Also ask for MRI of lumbosacral spine to look for detail soft tissue abnormalities. If it shows compression at specific nerve root level local nerve root blocks can be very effective. Take a visit to pain physician and get yourself examined.
