For the past three or four days I have had intermittent sharp, stabbing pains in the left groin near the pubic bone that lasts only a few seconds, but very painful. I ve had kidney stones in the past, but never manifest in this manner. Could a stone present this way?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Groin pain occurs due to various reasons like osteoarthritis, pinched nerve, tendonitis, muscle strain, lymph node enlargement, kidney stone etc.But as you had a history of urinary stone it is most likely cause as pain can occur while stones pass through ureter. In such case an ultrasound examination will rule out that.I advise urinary spasmolytics like flavoxate and urine alkalizing agents like potassium citrate for this for my patients.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
