What Causes Sharp Pain In Adams Apple?

Sudden sharp pain in Adams apple. No prior pain. Its as if i swallowed a piece of glass. Hurts a lot to swallow. Quit smoking 16 days ago after 17 yrs and have been vaping ever since. Never felt anything like this in my life. Any idea what can cause this instantaneous problem? Been about two hours since it started and not getting better.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that it can be sore throat. In this condition there is severe pain in swallowing. It can be due to viral infection or some time it can be due to bacterial infection also.
I would suggest you to take hot water gargles and also honey is helpful.
If pain is not decreased than you need to show it to ENT specialist. He might advised you antibiotics.
I hope these steps will helpful. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
