What Causes Severe Ringing Sound In Ears And Head?
Hi I have been taking Clarithromycin 500mg bid, for 13 days now one more day to go then I see my MD, I have been having severe ringing and noise in my head and ears all this time while at rest or quiet times, I just can t stand the noise and sometimes it feels like an electrical jolt for about a second , I took myself off (Cold Turkey) Citalopram 25mg because I felt I didn t need it and I was having severe hot flashes about 1 month a go, the hot flashes went away the next day after stopping the medication , can you tell me about why I have the ringing and the noise in my head will it go away?? I am 64 years old if that helps, sorry I didn t know I had to pay, so I guess you won t answer my question

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe ringing sound in ears and head which seems to be due to Tinnitus and possible causes are
- Exposure to loud sound.
- Stressful life .
- Middle ear infection .
- Temporomandibula joint problem or wisdom tooth problem .
- Increase in blood pressure either locally beneath the ear or of the whole body . It can also start pulsating sound in ear .
Need not to worry. There is no specific treatment available for tinnitus except some dietary supplements like ginko biloba , which is known to cure tinnitus. Meditation and yoga are very effective in case of tinnitus. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order blood test , CT scan , MRI or hearing test like audiogram. There are many treatment options doctor can opt like acoustic neural stimulation, choclear implant, antidepressant and anti-anxiety drugs.
