What Causes Severe Reaction After Using Meth?

After 10 years sober I relapsed 48 hours ago. I used used meth and had a severe reaction. I nursed myself for about 24 hrs til until I became short of breath. My face, neck , and chest became fire red, swollen, and distorted. I had numbing of my limbs, edema in feet and legs, and what appeared to be white pools or clumps under my skin on my face. Then, I could not catch my breath. I went to the ER where oxygen, benadryl, and prednisone were administered. I now have a deep regret , a rx for prednisone, and white clumps on my face under my skin for my reward. I would like to know what the clumps are, will they go away, and how do I have this treated (home care)?

Hello,

I understand your concern. It seems like you had a severe allergic reaction to meth. The white clumps on the face and skin sound very much like Lichenoid drug eruptions.
If this is the case, stopping meth use altogether will lead to their resolution, however it can take from weeks to months for this kind of rash to disappear and sometimes even longer. Topical use of steroid cream is also recommended for faster recovery.

Wishing you good health and all the best
