Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Sometimes, dengue patients are referred to me for sever headache to rule out intracranial bleeding. And in few patients, it was found also. I operated those patients depending upon CT scan finding, general condition of patient and
platelet count.
Now coming to your query, This headache in her could be due to prodromal symptom of dengue fever or bleed. Chances of prodromal is more, as it is most common cause, your mother is conscious. You can also check her mental status by asking simple questions like her name, relatives name, time, few important past date. If she is responding correctly and her platelet count is remaining more than 20,000/mm3, it is unlikely to be bleed.
For relief, you can give her
Paracetamol tablet. Do not give her any NSAIDrugs like
aspirin, brufen. It can cause bleeding. You can
massage her head. Ask her to plenty of water. Give her coffee or tea.
If still no relief,
consult doctor to rule out bleed, platelet count decrease. Further management will be decided after CT report.
Thanks. Take care.
