Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your headache seems to be related to occipital neuralgia.

This is an irritation of the occipital nerve from chronic degeneration of the cervical spinal column. An X Ray study is not the best test to determine these changes.

So, I would recommend performing a brain and cervical spine MRI study to examine better this region and exclude possible discal herniation.

Meanwhile, I would recommend starting treatment with carbamazepine or topiramate for the pain.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
