What Causes Severe Pain On Right Temple And Over Eye?

I m fortunate to rarely get headaches, but for one week now I ve been experiencing severe pain on the right temple and over right eye. Could be sinus, but no runny nose, eyes, or sneezing. Pain goes away as soon as I take an Advil, but returns back after three hours.

Hello!

Welcome to HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to a sinus infection or to temporal arteritis.

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination and some tests:

- a sinus X ray study
- blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate).

If all the above tests result normal, a tension type headache should be considered as the main cause of your symptoms. In such case taking ibuprofen three times daily for a week would help.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Aida
