What Causes Severe Pain Near The Ribcage During Pregnancy?

Severe pain on left side just below left breast on front rib cage. Started as shallow pain that has grown in intensity causing me to take short breaths. Had similar on right side before but front and back of left side affected and Hosp diagnosed pleurasy. Almost 12 weeks pregnant, 38yrs old. Otherwise healthy. Non smoker. Non drinker. Average weight for height. No other symptoms. No underlying health issues. No heavy lifting or awkward movements recently.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that this pain and discomfort might be due to,
1, Pleuritic pain as you had pleurasy,
2, due to pregnancy increasing abdominal pressure might produce some discomfort in the chest.
3, due to pregnancy there might be having some postural changes on back or ribs.
Consult your doctor and discuss about this.
Keep posture straight.
Go for deep breathing exercises.
Ok and take care.
