What Causes Severe Pain In Tonsils, Red Spots On The Soft Palate And Inflammation?
I am having severe pain in my tonsils which are inflamed, red and there are small red spots on the soft palate. I am not even able to swallow. There is ear pain and a slight irritation in the nose. I have started gargling with betadine but it is not helping. I have a history of chronic tonsillitis
Hello, Severe pain in tonsil with red spots on soft palate and inflammation are indication of your chronic tonsillitis problem aggravation. chronic tonsillitis occur due to repeated infection of bacterial infection like- Group A streptococcus or viral infection like- common cold virus( CMV), infectious mononucleosis, herpes simplex and measles virus. You should consult an ENT specialist for local examination and further management. As your disease is chronic in nature you should undergo through throat swab culture & sensitivity and total blood count to rule out the exact cause. If necessary your treating doctor may ask you to take some antibiotic/ even undergo through tonsillectomy. Take care, bye.
