What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Thigh Of The Right Leg?

2 days ago, I began experiencing severe upper thigh pain on the outside of my right leg. It seemed that when I took my regularly prescribed meds, it cleared up (oxycodone is one of my prescribed 5 mg 4x daily for spinal stenosis). Now the drugs are no longer helping the pain, and the pain also there when sitting....seemed previously only when standing. Due to a Fem-Pop in 1987 on my left leg, which left me with nerve damage and loss of feeling on that leg, I do favor my right leg - which is where I m experiencing the sudden pain. Can you let me know if I should see my primary care physician regarding this pain. Oh....I ve had a bad cold, coughing, blowing, sore throat, pain in my back for more than 2 weeks. Have been on Mucinex and also a 5 day aniti-biotic which ended last Saturday. Thank You for any suggestions. Janet

Hello Janet , I evaluated your query clearly .
Severe pain in upper thigh mandates to rule out neurological issue in accordance with history of spinal stenosis , other less common causes also
include musculoskeletal / vascular component related .
I definitely recommend to consult primary care physician regarding the pain
immediately rather than delaying.
Till that time : avoid excess pressure bearing on right leg , keep it elevated
over 2-3 pillows for relief , avoid smoking / alcohol
