What Causes Severe Pain In The Throat?

I'm diagnosed with hyperthyroidism lately. Two weeks prior to that I had my physical and my thyro hormone level was normal. I'm in a lot of pain to swallow and to touch on the right side of the neck. on the ultrasound showed multiple nodules on both side. My Dr has ordered a CT scan with iodine uptake. I've an appt on Dec 29th because I've to follow a certain low Iodine diet for two weeks. My concern is: Is this the right way to go and be treated? I can't tollerate this pain in my throat constantly. I'm taking steroid and B blocker med daily. Need help? What's going on with me. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and I was sweatting like a dog. please reply.

I THINK THE TREATMENT ORDERED IS FINE U CAN GO AHEAD WITH IT.
