Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thanks for putting up your query over here.
Severe pain in big toes can be a sign of gout.
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-Over the counter analgesics like
ibuprofen or
naproxen as and when needed.
-Local ice pack application for 15-20 minutes.
-Give absolute rest to the joint.
If the pain is non relieving, drugs like
oxycodone or steroids are used(prescription drug)
Visit to rheumatologist/orthopaedician is must for confirmation of diagnosis.
Joint fluid examination, blood and urine tests for uric acid levels will be needed.
Maintenance therapy with
allopurinol drug may be given.
-Avoid alcohol.Have adequate intake of water.Keep body weight within control.
-Avoid diet containing meat, lentils, fish as they may excaberate the symptoms.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks.
