What Causes Severe Pain In Centre Of The Chest?

i have been having severe chest pain either in the center of my chest or where my heart is nowhere else and the inside part of my left arm cramps up on me from the top to the bottom most of the time and i have chest pains3-4 times a week and my mom has been a rn for 30 yrs and she had gave me some nitro4.0mg tabletsand when i hurt real bad i take half of one and the pain quits 15 to 20 seconds after that.Could this be my heart?And do you think this is serious?
