What Causes Severe Pain During Urination?

HI there, I have felt extreme pain when i was urinating today and at the end of the urine, i held my anus. Its not the first time it has happened, and the pain was very sharp and excruciating in the penis and up towards the insides of my lower abdomen.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
The pain you felt is normal in certain cases like, when you hold urine for a long period of time for some reason and then you go urinate. This in turn causes a muscular colicky pain that gives you a terrible pain as your muscles in the bladder has kept contracted for a long period than usual preventing you from urinating involuntarily.
If this pain occurse occasionally during irrelevant situations you don't need to worry but if you feel the pain is persistent or recurrent occurring too frequently then it's best to get evaluated for any other bladder pathologies.
