What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling On Testicles?

I am a 48 year old male with a history of sperm building up next to my left testicle. 3 days ago, I woke up with severe pain and some swelling in my scrotum. The pain was so bad that I couldn't stand to even touch it. The next day, the swelling had increased to softball size, but seemed to recede as the day progressed. I decided I needed to move around to increase blood flow. The pain, which had also receded overnight, became increasingly worse. Today, I woke up to almost basketball sized swelling, and unbelievable pain when trying to stand. If I lay still on my side, with them laying on my leg, I feel almost no discomfort. There doesn't seem to be any discoloration. Can anyone help?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query.
Based on the detail history that you have posted I would say that you have Acute Infection of the Testis(Orchitis).

Please consult qualified General surgeon or Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Haemogram
2) Routine urine teats and Urine culture
2) Ultrasound Scanning of Scrotum.

Start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti inflammatory drugs like Diclofenac and Serropeptidase twice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Ensure to drink more water.

Ensure to use scrotal support so as to prevent testis from hanging down. This will help to relieve pain.

Please note that Orchitis takes long time to get cured hence you will need to take medications for a long time.
