What Causes Severe Nerve Pain In The Upper And Lower Extremities?

I have been having extreme nerve pain in my upper and lower extremities, mostly from the elbows down and knees down...most severe in my hands and feet. It feels like thousands of tiny needles prickling and when something touches my skin the pain is unbearable. It is not joint pain. It feels like the nerves in my skin. I have never felt anything like this before. It has been coming on slowly for a couple of weeks but escalated to extreme yesterday and today. When I try to do something like open a water bottle or turn a knob or something bumps my foot, the pain is unbearable. What is wrong with me?

Thanks for asking HCM.
what is your age? are u duabetic. If yes then it could be diabetic neuropathy. if answer is no then following could be the cause of your symptoms.
1. Vitamin B 12 deficiency and cacium deficiency.
2. Muscular pain.
3. Neuralgia.etc
There are many other causes that can be rule out if a complete history, past medical illness, medications details are available.
Advice:
CBC, ESR, Sr.calcium, Vit B12, CRP,and in severe cases EMG has to be done after consultation with neurologist.
Meanwhile you can take T. Hifenec MR as and when required along with some Vitamin B 12 supplement.
