What Causes Severe Mood Swings?

I m not sure if I m pregnant or depressed. I only eat less than 2 proper meals a day, I get sad very easily and I ve been suicidal every now and then. I ve been sleeping heaps. My last period started on the 5th and I had sex on the 19th, both in March and he finished in me. But I have lost interest in doing everyday things and I skipped school today because I didn t want to socialise.

Hello,

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I will be glad to answer it for you.

There is chance that you are pregnant based on the dates, as 19th falls into your ovulatory period. You need to get tested for pregnancy, by a home kit first, if that is convinient and then visit the hospital.

Mood swings are common in early pregnancy due to hormonal chnages. If the depression continues, please visit a Psychotherapist who can counsel you and suggest you what to be done.

I don't advise on antidepressants now.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards

Dr Chaithanya
