Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had my little girl by emergency cesarean 3 months ago. I stayed in hospital for 2weeks as I had an infection. Since then I keep getting a "tight" severe pain just under my ribs in the middle of my stomach, it happens at least once every couple of weeks, sometimes twice a week, lasting between 1hr to 24hrs. The doctors gave me some indigestion tablets but they don't seem to be working. It seems to happen when I've lifted something heavy that day, but this could just be coincidence? could this be anything other than indigestion?
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. If I were your doctor, I would advise you for an ultrasound abdomen to rule out any co existing gall stone disease as cause of the pain now, and if need be a CT scan abdomen to rule out the chances of any post op adhesion formation of intestines with the operative scar inside the abdomen which might be causing sub acute attacks of intestinal obstructions causing such pain off and on. Till these are done, you could go for a proton pump inhibitor and an anti spasmodic drug for symptomatic relief. Further management would depend on a proper diagnosis with detailed investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
