What Causes Severe Leg Pain?

My husband has had severe leg pain for the last several weeks. I even took him to the emergency room a couple nights ago. They did blood work, x-ray, etc. but could not find anything. When this first started, it was in his left leg right by his shin with pain extending into his groin area. It has gradually gotten worse to the point of both legs are bothering him with a lot of pain extending upward to his waist. What could this be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
I came to know that you are suffering from chronic backache. It may be lumbar spondylosis or lumber disc prolapse. It can be confirmed by x-rays and MRI of spine. Back exercises, Diacerine, glucosamine sulfate neurotropic such as methycobalamin and analgesics such as diclofenac slow release tablet can give relief. Serum vitamin D test is advised if it is low than vitamin D supplementation will be required. Avoid long continuous standing. Sit in a straight posture. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
