What Causes Severe Knee Pain And Swelling?

I am a 20 yr old female with severe left knee pain. I fell a year or two back from about 5 ft in the air onto my left knee while it was bent straight onto concrete. It swelled tremendously but I didnt go get it checked out. A few months later I got is looked at and had an MRI and an XRAY that showed nothing. Why and I still having extreme pain and swelling?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. From your history and mechanism of falling it is most likely an injury to menisci of knee. In some cases it can be missed in MRI and a diagnostic arthroscopy will be needed and it can be corrected in arthroscopy itself. So it is better to have a consultation with an experienced orthopedician who is performing knee arthroscopy.By applying ice pack and elastic bandaging you can get pain relief.Short term antiinflammatory drugs and quadriceps strengthening exercise also helps.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
