What Causes Severe Hot Flashes And Night Sweats?

I will be 71 next month & had a total hysterectomy when I was 31. Stayed on hormone pills until about 10 years ago when there was the scare about how bad they were for women.About 4 months ago I started having severe hot flashes & night sweats. Didn t really think about them until they got to the point that my hair was dripping wet. So-- with my brief history--how in the world could I be going though menopause now??

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Hot flashes can still happen at your age and several things could be causing them. Hormone imbalance caused by the hypothalamus, hypothyroid state, recent medications or vitamin supplements, hot weather, hot surroundings, infections and so on. While you can try some remedies like using plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, using loose fitting cotton wear, meditation and breathing exercises apart from maintaining comfortable surroundings, it is always better to have a proper clinical opinion. Hope this helps.
