What Causes Severe Heart Palpitations And Lightheadedness During Menopause?

Hello I am 53 years old and going through menopause do. I am having regular palpitations that seem to last for ages . These happen not just when I am resting but when I am up and about. I know these are normal but lately I am feeling light headed with them and have been having pins and needles in my arms. Do I need to be concerned? Many thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What symptoms you are having during the menopause can be considered as physiological as most women experience such symptoms due to hormonal changes taking place.
However, it would be ideal for you to get your blood pressure monitored regularly and take proper medications if necessary.
Kindly supplement yourself by taking iron with folic acid tablets along with Vitamin B12 capsules to overcome certain symptoms like pins and needles sensations. you are experiencing.
Gradually, as the hormones in your body stabilise, you should be able to feel better and normal.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best and wish you good health.
