What Causes Severe Headache While Vomiting?

While dumping (vomiting) my lunch, I had SEVERE pain in my head. The pain was not centralized. This was a sharp, excruciating pain which lasted approximately 3-4 minutes. It felt as if my skull was going to split from the inside out. Pain subsided completely after about 15 minutes; but left me exhausted. I slept for about 2-3 hours after the incident.
