What Causes Severe Headache Inspite Of Taking Ibuprofen,Tylenol And Excedrin?

I have been having REALLY bad headaches lately and I usually don t get them this bad or this often. I ve taken Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and Excedrin but they do not work! Also the headaches are only on my left side of my head. I just recently noticed my left adenoid is swollen too. Should I be worried?

Hi. The swelling of the adenoid could be just co incidental. Unilateral severe headache is mos likely due to migraine. It often runs in the family though its not absolutely essential. Routine analgesics don't resolve it. You should try to take 1gm paracetamol with 10 mg metochlopromide at the start of the headache itself. 90% patients feel better. As its often you will need a prophylactic drug like flunarizine 10mg one tab at night in addition. Sleep on time. Don't skip meals. Cut down alcohol and smoking if you do. Hope it helps. Take care.
