What Causes Severe Fatigue , Loss Of Appetite And Diarrhea?

Thank you. For around 18 months, I have symptoms every 6 weeks that include: deep fatigue, loss of appetite, followed by 2 or more days of diarrhea. Then my energy comes back and I am well for another 6 weeks or so. I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis but am not sure this is related. I take probiotics and fiber daily. My doctor has done many tests including heart, lung and a full panel of blood work with nothing showing as abnormal. In the last 12 months I have lost 25 pounds. There is no blood in my stool and I don t have much nausea. I need help please.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of severe fatigue , loss of appetite and diarrhea. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis , food poisoning, irritable bowel syndrome , lactose intolerance or intestinal ileus. Need not to worry. You should eat light and non spicy and avoid food like sea food and nuts. You should take plenty of fluids and oral rehydrating solution as well. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound , endoscopy along with that take history . Doctor may prescribe laxative , ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine. You should take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down.
