General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The irritant particles and gases like carbon monoxide cause constriction of the bronchi. The body tries to cough those particles out which causes coughing. It will go in a day or so. Take rest and go for a walk in fresh surroundings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankit
