What Causes Severe Cough After A Valve Replacement Surgery?

Hi ,Iam Anand from bangalore. 3 months back my mom undergone valve replacement sugery .The problem is she is suffering from severe cough, we went for check up all tests are taken x ray, echo are normal and 2 days back doctor told to stop ramipril tablet but still she is suffering from cough (she is taking warfarin and amifru also).we don know wat the problem is? Please help.

Hi Anand,
It is not uncommon to have cough after valve surgery.But most of them finish in a few weeks.If all her tests echo, Xray are normal then you may want to treat her with allergy medications such as cetrizine etc.Cough suppressant syrups can be used but mostly they don't have a consistent benefit
