What Causes Severe Cervical Pain During Intercourse?

Hello! My name is Lauren and I have a question. My husband and I had sex but I got a pain after he hit my cervix! It felt like bad constipation cramps and it was difficult to use the restroom! The pain only lasted for about 5 minutes and then was gone. We are trying to get pregnant. I have never had a pain like this before and was just wondering what it could possibly be! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi Lauren,
How are you doing ?
That was a very limited history, Cervix is an insensitive structure, you can pain from cervix only if it is dilated as in delivery or when structures around it is inflamed, as in vaginal infection or in endometriosis.- both these can interfer with getting pregnant, but are treatable
Let me tell you how to go about
1. If infection - You will have vaginal discharge, yellow/ green / grey/white color with itching or foul smell. This increases after sex & after periods. Your partner also can have some itching & pain while passing urine after sex.
This need consultation with gynecologist, evaluation & a good course of antibiotics for both of you. Infection can reduce the health of sperms & also the uterine lining where baby has o sit
2. If endometriosis- You will have heavy sensation / throbbing lower abdomen before periods, pain gradually increasing with periods gradually fading after periods are gone. May have red or brown discharge following periods. PAIN DURING SEX/ Dysperunia. especially at the end , close to time of ejaculation. pain in lower back radiating to thighs.
This is due to adhesions around uterus, from the blood which has spilled into abdomen during previous periods .Gradually pain increases every periods .
This may gradually stop the normal reaction between egg & sperm,
It is a progressive condition & only solution for this is to stop periods , in your case best method is to stop periods with pregnancy immediately. Plan your pregnancies one after other immediately, periods in between will cause recurrence.
You can have an Ultrasound scan to see if any Cysts or adhesions around the uterus
As you are trying for pregnancy, kindly see if the following checklist is done
Husband- Semen analysis at least 2- done 4 weeks apart preferably in an infertility center ( examination done by andrologist), Blood sugars
Wife - Blood Sugars, Thyroid profile
Ultrasound scans to evaluate Uterus , Ovaries & adnexa
Confirm tubal patency- most important- Tube is the connection
between uterus & ovaries( the bridge where sperm meets the egg &
forms a baby) this is size of hair follicle & cannot be seen on scans.
So check with HSG( Xray with dye), or SSG ( Scan with dye) or
Laparoscopy
If all this done & found normal , nothing can stop a pregnancy with God's will
Hope I have cleared your query
All the best
