What Causes Severe Bleeding Of Nose?

For the last week or so, I ve been waking up with really bad nose bleeds. They usually last around 15 to 20 minutes and I can completely soak 2 napkins before my nose bleed gets light enough where I can just lean my head back until it stops.. and I ve been feeling very, very tired.. exhausted, actually. And for the last 3 days I ve been feeling stomach pains. Not so much as a stomach bug, but more or so a cramping pain that makes me sick to my stomach. And this entire day I have been extremely dizzy with minor head aches, so often and sudden that I d have to sit down for a few minutes before i could even stand back up... Maybe I m just being a bit paranoid, but I wonder if I should worry about it or not. I m allergic to Aspirin and Ibruprofen, basically all narcotics. So I can t really take anything for my head aches. I am 17 and female. I also haven t had my period in 3 months, and then I got it for 1 1/2 days but very, very light. And before that I hadn t had my period for 6 months.. I am not pregnant, and I am not sexually active. I have been on birth control, Merina (I don t know how to spell that). But, if you could please give me at least a little bit of an explanation, I would be very grateful... Thank you

Hi

Welcome in H.C.M.

After reading your mail carefully and co-relating all events with possible disease process it appears as your nose bleed had given you weakness. Here I would like to tell you the causes of such bleeding as you have-

1- Hypertension.

2- Vestibular infection of nose.

3- Bleeding polyp in nose.

4- Bleeding disorder may be due to thrombocytopenia etc.

5- Vicarious menstruation.

Beside this there are few other causes of nose bleed, so it will be better to consult your ENT doctor for examination of nose and to find out the etiology and that may be accordingly plan for treatment.
