Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctor, my mom who is 76 years old had severe tummy pain about 15 days ago which lasted for 2 days. The stomach was tender to touch. Then she developed knee joint pain and she was unable to move at night. She was given paracetemol as well as an anti-inflammatory medication which stopped the pain. However the pain shifted to one of her ankles which now is swollen. She feels feverish, has very little appetite. We suspect an infection but we are unable to find a specialist near Ayyapakkam. Would you kindly advise please.

Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Divakara's Response
HI Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.
Yes it seems like an infection. Either it is a viral infection or a bacterial infection. You mentioned that she had Stomach pain since 15 days , is it still there or not . Because if stomach pain is still there it points towards Stomach as the source of infection and we should concentrate on stomach in the evaluation .
I advise you to get her tested for Viral and bacterial infections like Complete Hemogram , IgM Typhi Dot , Dengue Serology profile , Ultrasound Abdomen Pelvis , Urine routine examination.
Kindly revert back with reports.
