General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. That red, itchy rash on your scalp that has flaky scales could be seborrheic dermatitis, or seborrhea. It's a common skin disease that looks similar to psoriasis, eczema, or an allergic reaction. And it can appear on your body as well as your scal. It can cause hair fall. Generally seen in infants, but can also occur in adults. Adults with seborrheic dermatitis on their scalp can use an over-the-counter dandruff shampoo that contains one of these key ingredients:

1. Coal tar
2. Ketoconazole
3. Salicylic acid
4. Selenium sulfide
5. Zinc pyrithione

Other reasons for hair fall can be familial or hereditary. You can consult a dermatologist in this case, who may prescribe biotin containing tablets like follihair and minoxidil solution to be applied to scalp on a regular basis. In some people it gives excellent results.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
