Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Lung scars happens as a result following healing of an active infection, which could have happened in the past. Most commonly, it occurs due to tuberculosis, but not necessarily from it. Certain other bacterial infections also which has happened in the past, mostly repeatedly, could have caused fibrosis after healing process has been complete. There is nothing much to worry about it as fibrous tissue is a dead tissue. It might decrease the lung capacity for functioning depending on the amount of area scar tissue occupies. Kindly undergo pulmonary function test to know about your lung functioning status. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
