What Causes Salty Saliva?

Sometimes my spit is salty but it is coming from my stomach or either my jaw teeth. It first occured when I was about 13 and now I am 53. It is really bad when I take asprin, so I don't. But lately it has been doing it two or three times a week.

Thanks for the query.

The most common cause of salty saliva occurs when dehydration sets in from excessive perspiration or insufficient fluid intake. Medication used to treat certain conditions might also produce salty tasting saliva. Other possible causes of salty saliva include sinus infections, overproduction of tear ducts, diseases of the salivary glands, and vitamin deficiencies.

Hope i helped you.
