What Causes Rupture Of Carotid Artery In The Scrotum While Suffering From Diabetes?
I'm a 47 year old white male 360 pounds 5 feet 8 and a half inches tall. I'm diabetic and my diabetes was well controlled until about a year and a half ago. my last A1C was 13.6 about 6 months ago. Several days ago I was walking to work from my car, and I noticed my pants seem to be getting wet at first I thought I had urinated on myself, but when I checked myself in bathroom my shorts were full of blood. I was terrified I immeadiately went to see a triage nurse and got treated by my doctor who said it was a burst carotid artery in my scrotum. My doctor said if it starts bleeding again to pinch it off for 15 minutes to stop bleeding. It hasn't bled anymore. Is this significant are do you think its do to high blood sugar or some other problem?
First, let me clarify, there is no carotid artery in the scrotum.Main vascular supply of the scrotum is from testicular artery and scrotal vessels. It appears that one of superficial vein might have got punctured through minor trauma. The vessels in diabetic patients become week. You consult your doctor. He will guide you regarding further investigations.
