General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. His diet and exercise plan seems excellent. The things that can cause high blood pressure are salt, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and obesity. This condition also runs in some families and in that case you can do everything correctly and still have high blood pressure. It is very important for the blood pressure to be controlled to avoid complications in years to come of heart attack, kidney disease and stroke. Lisinopril is an excellent medication. It is usually well tolerated and helps protect the kidneys. He may need a higher dose of lisinopril. It sounds like he is doing a lot of good things with his diet and exercise. Good luck.
