What Causes Retroverted Uterus?

I was diagnosed for normal size retroverted uterus, proliferative phase endometrium and polycystic ovaries. I was not able to ask my ob gyne if I am pregnant. And I wanted to make sure if I am. Is it possible that you can check using the ultrasound pictures?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the findings you have mentioned, it seems that you have not conceived.
This is because endometrium is in proliferative phase.
Usually, uterus is anteverted and anteflexed (tilted slightly in front) in most individuals.
A retroverted uterus is a uterus that is tilted posteriorly or backwards.
In most cases, a retroverted uterus is genetic and is perfectly normal.
However, there are other factors that can cause the uterus to be retroverted, which includes pelvic surgery, pelvic adhesions, endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Another observation from the report you have furnished is presence of polycystic ovaries which is seen in polycystic ovaries disease (PCOD).
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
