What Causes Redness In Eyes?

The white portion of my 6 month old daughter s right eye is very red. It is not crusty, does not seem to be hurting her, but the entire thing has been very red all day today. The white of her eye is the only thing that is effected, around the eye looks fine.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
Red eye in 6 mth old can be due to some allergic reaction secondary to some foreign body like dust of something irritating the eye. Also it can mean a possible conjunctivitis which is infection of the eye. As a home remedy , I would rrequest you to wash the eye with clean water multiple times a day. You might need to start on antibiotic eye drops . however it's better child is examined by a pediatrician before you start any medical therapy. Take care.
