What Causes Redness In Eyes With Swollen Eyelids?

I have seen a doctor twice this week and diagnosed with pink eye. The second trip they gave me antibiotic drops. I have been on them 48 hours. My eye seems worse. The white of my eye is now jelly like, very red and lids are very swollen. Could I be reacting to the eye drops or is this a normal course for day 6 of pink eye?
