What Causes Redness And Pain In Tips Of Toes?

About 2 months ago, in Feb.., the top of my front large toe on the skin below the nail started hurting and looks a little red. Cannot touch it because of pain. Little by little all the tips of my toes started hurting. Recently went to a foot doctor to see if it was my nails, and it is not. Toenails look great, he said. This is really starting to scare me. Very hard to wear shoes. Do you have any idea what it could be?

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

This can happen in a condition called Gout. Gout occurs due to excess deposition of a salt called Uric Acid in the small joints causing redness and pain. This excess deposition happens due to high levels of Uric acid in blood.

You require a blood test to confirm it is Gout. I would recommend you to get the following test done and revert back.

CRP, Serum Uric Acid.

It is a easily treatable condition , medicines like Zyloric or febutas will reduce the uric acid level and hence reduce / stop the pain and redness.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask .

Regards.
