What Causes Redness And Dryness In The Lip After Taking Minocycline?
hi, I have been taking Minocycline for the past week and for the past few days, my upper lip has turned red and is very dry and a bit numb. I tried to remove the dead skin and moisturizer every hour or so, but its only stops the peeling and burning temporarily, the redness stays. is it caused by Minocycline? any way to prevent it?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from a severe case of chapped lips and in case ifbit happened after taking Minocycline, it can be a side effect of it.. I would suggest you to consult your physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and investigations like blood test to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms and treat accordingly.. In case if it is due to allergic reaction to Minocycline then he can change the antibiotic with other groups of antibiotics and also advise anti allergics.. As of now you can apply thick coat of Petroleum jelly over the lips, do cool compresses to reduce inflammation and avoid licking or sucking the lips as it can increase dryness..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
